I am new to your site. does this mean Passover is not until the 25th of April?

    1. Passover is expected to start the 24th of April at evening through the 25 at evening. This of course will be give or take a day as we do not know when the new moon will be sighted to start the next month.

    2. At last! Something clear I can unernstadd. Thanks!

  1. Shalom,
Thanks for sharing the new moon sighting in Israel.

Regarding your understanding that “Next Month will be the new year,” I have a question.

I’m not sure if you use the barley or the turn of the year, but given that both the barley was found ripe in Israel (something Nehemia Gordon also points out) and the turn of the year is March 20th why don’t you believe the new moon of this month (from March 13th) marks the first month, and hence, beginning of the new year as the Karaites (& Nehemia) believe?

In other short, why do you believe next month is the new year and the month of Aviv?

    Thanks very much,
    Greg

    1. Thank you, Greg, for your questions! I will be releasing part #2 in the Calendar Video Series in the next few days. This should answer your Questions Blessings!
